Doll Quilt, and more...

Well, I've been working on my doll quilt. I have most of the top completed. It's a green sunshine & shadow(same design as my aunt's sort of quillow) with 1 inch squares. I just have a couple more rows to put on, and then I'm going to quilt it.
It's supposed to represent my State(Oregon)
Do you think I should put a few trees on, or leave it like it is?
I'm debating it, as the 1 inch squares are actually pieced together, not strip pieced or paper pieced. That was a lot of work, and the trees will be more work. I don't know what kind of a quilt I'm going to get, I just don't know that I want to put a lot of time and effort into something, send it, and then get something that isn't as nice.
I am not sure yet, I'm going to try to get a few opinions, so please comment! :)

Getting Caught Up(at last)

Well, I have been thinking about my deadlines. I have most out of the way by now. My dad's quilt is done, my Aunt's quilt is done, I don't have any immediate swaps to fulfill, which is nice. I just have the Treadle On Block Exchange to do, and that's the end of the year. I have a few of those done as well, so it isn't like I am really putting it off. I have a bag of scraps to send somebody, as well, but that's about it.

I had joined a few secret pal swaps, and I've sent all of mine out, and I've gotten most of mine(I think there is still one to get)

So, what to do now?

I joined a year round Secret Angel swap, that sounds fun. My main concern is that there is not a limit for the amount to send somebody. I don't want to send a small envelope and get a box, or vice versa!!

It still sounds fun though, so I am hopeful it'll work out.

I also joined a Doll Quilt Swap. I am supposed to do a quilt to represent my state(Oregon)

I'm thinking about a 1inch sunshine&shadow in greens, with some trees appliquéd on.

I seem to be addicted to swaps!!!

Finished...

Well, I saw my Aunt yesterday, and it was great! We visited for a few hours, I showed her one of my machines(the western electric) and we worked on finishing the case.

I gave her the quilt. Here are two pictures of it. It is not a proper Quill ow, as I quilted it before I put the pillow thing on. I quilted it on my Riccar treadle(in the straight leg base) with the presser foot all the way done. It was 3 layers of batting - I wanted to give her a warm quilt.

My Davis VF complained about it, so thats why I used the Riccar. An EBay seller once said about the same machine "It's built like a tank."

One amusing comment on Craigslist was that this old machine was bullet proof!!! I was laughing hard about that! I love them because they are some heavy and dependable. I'd take one over a new one any day(unless it was a Bernina 830)

My dream though is still to get a Computerized embroidery sewing machine, I just don't have a 1000 dollars to spend on one yet...

Thanksgiving

Well, this week is thanksgiving, and black Friday too!

I'm not planning to get anything, but my family's bookstore is having a black friday, will be interesting to see how it does. Everybody is supposedly in Salem...

Progress

Well, I'm making progress on the quilt for my aunt. I have the fabric all cut out and ready to sew.

I'm looking forward to thanksgiving too!

It is just going to be a small meal with my parents. We will be skipping the Turkey, and just doing Stuffing, and a Spinach Soffle!

It'll be nice, because then neither me or my mom have to cook, much!!!

Sunshine & Shadow

In my Quilting group, the leader of it had me make Sunshine & Shadow as a baby quilt in reds.

I made it, and I really liked it, so I am going to use that pattern for my Aunt's quillow. I am going to do it in shades of blues, starting with light and going to dark. I have a panel with cats and birds on it that I'm going to use for the pillow part.

Finally Done

Well, I am finally done with my dad's quilt. I don't know why I took so long on the binding, but I procrastinated a bit, I'm afraid. I participated in a sew along swap a while ago, and I got 3 of the 4 rows of blocks from it. I made the other row. Not my best work, but I felt like it was good enough. I used high loft batting, which made it really warm! I had to use a big needle on my machine, and it clunked a bit, but it sewed it well.

Now onto a quilt for my aunt's birthday. She wants a mono chromic blue quillow.
